First look at Laerdal's new SimBaby 6 month old simulator

 

 

I have been lucky enough to see the first finished SimBaby in the Uk and WOW what a product, it really is scary real, the manikin moves it looks like it has hickups one minute or is giggling then it starts to fit or struggle as it fights for its breath etc. I have to say I have been working with simulators for five years now and thought that they were pretty good already but this thing gives me the creeps it is so real.

I am the farther of three so looking down at a small life form wiggling about in its cot is something I have got pretty used to over the last five years, so when I first saw the SimBaby move I was more than a little impressed, dont get me wrong it is still plastic, it is still attached by wires but it is allot more realistic than I had hoped for.

I did not have the opportunity to play with a finished version of the new software so I cannot comment on any improvement in this department but as far as creating a six month old infant that allows the user to suspend disbelief then Laerdal look to have come pretty close.
