New Microsim from Laerdal (initial review) (10/5/4)

Microsim is a revolutionary Pc based simulation, it allows the user to control the members of the clinical team in real time, and perform interventions in order to treat the patient effectivley. The most noticible feature of the software is how intuative laerdal have made it, within a couple of minutes I was able to work effectivley within the Pc based environment performing tasks and making decissions in real time.

You are presented with a clinical area within which there is a Doctor and a nurse to care for your chosen patient. The sheer volume and variety of cases available is certainly impressive and it is set to grow further in time.

The user interface allows you to click on an action then watch as the characters on screen perform the intervention as you sit back and assses the effectivness of your decission.

One of the most exciting features of the software is its intergration with the next generation of SIMMAN software, very soon you will be able to fine tune your skills at the descktop interface before running through the same scenario on the SIMMAN patient simulator as a hands on interface, this level of compatibility is not only ground braking but also a very logical step for simulation to take!!!
